Acute sporadic hepatitis non A non B clinical features and biochemical profile.

چکیده
Hepatitis Non A Non B is the commonest type of sporadic hepatitis in Pakistan. To document its clinicopathological pattern, one hundred consecutive cases were studied. The clinical presentation indicates that it is a disease of mild severity presenting with anorexia and dark coloured urine. The rise in serum bilirubin transaminases and alkaline phosphatase is moderate. Monophasic pattern of transaminase elevation is seen. Chronic sequelae do not occur. The disease shows certain differences from western countries and Japan. It resembles hepatitis A. The possibility that it is caused by a closely related virus may have to be considered.

Expression of Human Cytokine Genes Associated with Chronic Hepatitis B Disease Progression
Background: Hepatitis viruses are non-cytopathic viruses that lead to the infection and pathogenesis of liver diseases as a result of immunologically mediated event. Objective: To investigate the expression of human inflammatory cytokines in chronic hepatitis B patients according to the severity of the infection. Methods: We recruited a total of 120 patients, 40 of whom from cirrhotic, 40 non-c...
متن کاملClinical and histological features of sporadic non-A, non-B hepatitis.
The incidence of hepatitis A (HA), hepatitis B (HB), and non-A, non-B hepatitis (NANBH) was 27%, 30% and 43% among 73 patients with sporadic hepatitis. Epidemiological data (geographical distribution, seasonal variation, age, sex, and occupation) were not distinguishing of the type of hepatitis. Neither intrafamilial infection nor previous contact with viral hepatitis patients could be demonstr...

Non-A, non-B hepatitis was diagnosed by exclusion in 35 (43.8%) patients, hepatitis A in 27 (33.8%), acute hepatitis B in ...
متن کاملLiver histopathology of the hepatitis A virus infection: a comparison with hepatitis type B and non-a, non-b.
Liver biopsies from 86 patients with serologically established acute hepatitis A were evaluated for quantitative and qualitative light microscopic features together with biopsies from 78 patients with acute hepatitis type B and 76 patients with acute hepatitis type non-A, non-B. Hepatitis A was characterised by more pronounced portal inflammation than hepatitis non-A, non-B (p less than 0.01) b...
متن کاملFailure to incriminate hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and hepatitis E viruses in the aetiology of fulminant non-A non-B hepatitis.
Sporadic non-A, non-B hepatitis is the most common indication for liver transplantation in patients presenting with fulminant and subacute liver failure. This study used serological, histological, and molecular biological techniques to examine specimens from 23 consecutive patients transplanted for sporadic non-A, non-B hepatitis. No evidence was found of hepatitis C virus, hepatitis E virus, o...
